Getting started

From zero to your characters on the dashboard, one step at a time. You need a game client built on OTClientV8 and about ten minutes.

1. Create an account

  1. Open the sign-in page.
  2. Pick Discord or Google. There is no password to remember.

The first sign-in creates your account on the Free plan: one client, no time limit.

2. Download the module

  1. Download the zip.
  2. Unpack it anywhere, for example on your desktop. Inside are an voidwatch folder, a folder called upload and a few setup files.

3. Put the module into your game client

  1. Close the game client.
  2. Open the folder where your game client is installed.
  3. Find the modules folder. You know it is the right one when it holds folders with names like game_battle or client_options. On some servers it sits in a data folder instead, for example %APPDATA%\OTClientV8\<server name>\modules on Windows.
  4. Copy the whole voidwatch folder into it.
Not sure you found it? Start the client after the next step. If a game message from Voidwatch shows up, the module is in the right place.

4. Run the setup once

The setup copies a small upload script to your computer and starts it at every login. The script sends what your client reports to the website, so the game client itself never talks to the internet.

The script is required. Without it, nothing reaches the website: no pairing, no live view, no history, no alerts and no commands.

Your systemWhat to do
WindowsDouble-click setup-windows.cmd. A window says "Voidwatch is set up". Press a key to close it.
MacRight-click setup-mac.command, pick Open, then Open again. Press Enter when it asks for a folder.
LinuxOpen a terminal in the unpacked folder and run sh setup-linux.sh.

A client that runs through Wine or CrossOver uses the Mac or Linux setup.

5. Pair your client

  1. Start the game client and log in with a character.
  2. A game message shows a code, for example K7PQ-2MXD, and a link.
  3. Open the link. Pick Try it as a guest to look around without an account, or Add it to my account.

Your character shows up on the live page within a few seconds. More on pairing.

6. Label your routes

Commands and rules steer your bot through four labels in your cavebot routes. Setting them up takes a few minutes per route: see Route labels.

Something did not work?

  • No game message: the voidwatch folder is not in the modules folder, or the client was open while you copied it. Close the client and check step 3.
  • The message asks you to run the setup: the setup did not find this client. It shows a folder: drop that folder onto setup-windows.cmd, drag it into the Mac setup window, or run sh setup-linux.sh "<folder>".
  • More help: The upload script explains what it does and how to remove it.
